Rosacea is a serious skin condition that affects people once they hit their thirties for the most part. Due to the nature of this particular disorder characterized by redness of the face Rosacea can have quite the toll psychologically on the sufferer and can lead to serious health complications. There are four different types which include Ocular, Phymatous, Papulopustular and Erythematotelangiectatic. In this article I will go through each of the types and outline the differences.

Ocular Rosacea is the first type of this particular skin disorder. This form involves with the skin problems appearing around the eyes leaving the sufferer with dry, itching and tearing of the eyes. Styes tend to be a common occurrence with Ocular Rosacea which may come and go and can lead to the eyelids being swollen. Since this particular classification is centered around the eyes it can lead to vision problems and possibly total vision loss.

Phymatous Rosacea is the second classification of this disorder which affects the skin around the nose. What happens is the skin begins to thicken which gives the appearance that the nose tends to look enlarged due to the excess skin. This process is known as rhinopyma where the nose becomes red and much larger than normal.

The third type of this disorder is Papulopustular Rosacea also known as acne Rosacea for it has a similar appearance with acne. With this type the persons face tend to have a constant redness to it and will also contain a number of bumps and pimples. If this form is left untreated it can become severe in a short amount of time and lead to other health concerns.

The last classification is Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea and this tends to be the most common form of the skin disorder. With Erythematotelangiectatic the person face appears to be flushed for long periods at a time. If left untreated this form of Rosacea can progress to the point where the facial veins become more prominent.

When it comes to treatment for Rosacea it is going to depend on how it is classified and how soon it is diagnosed. Although the psychological affects seem to be the most prominent if this skin disorder is left untreated it can become much worse and lead to more health concerns. As with any medical condition it is important to seek out professional help early so that the success of treatment will be at a much higher rate. Rosacea treatments have come along way in the last few years and hopefully in the near future there will be a cure for this particular skin disorder.
